Business Compliance & Workplace Culture Expert

About Janine

Long before #MeToo, Emtrain’s Founder and CEO Janine Yancey conducted live training to educate employees and build their skills on respect, empathy and making good decisions to proactively prevent workplace conflict. Doing that work, she saw the need for a scalable solution for larger workforces, as well as a solution that could be used quarterly to measure and change employee behavior.  Sitting in Silicon Valley, she knew there was a better way, and her work building Emtrain’s data driven compliance training platform began.

True to Janine’s vision, Emtrain has become a key culture partner to highly successful organizations, providing rich data and predictive analytics that give visibility to workplace sentiment and catch red flag legal and cultural issues before they escalate and impact a brand and reputation.  We’ve helped prevent or resolve many workplace issues, improve productivity, and drive employee engagement, all in the effort to help build healthier workplace cultures.

A tireless thought-leader, Janine writes extensively, has provided expert testimony and advice to state legislatures, and helps leading companies implement harassment prevention, diversity, ethics, and compliance programs. Janine is a sought-after speaker and has been published and interviewed in the mainstream media including The Washington Post, Fast Company, USA Today, Bloomberg Business, TechCrunch, and Startup Grind. She’s presented at Society of Ethics and Compliance; Techstars FounderCon; Founders Network, and The Club.

Prior to founding Emtrain, Janine was a partner at Employment Law Partners where she specialized in solving labor and employment problems for high tech firms including Google, Intuit and a variety of start-ups. Janine also worked as counsel at Liebert Cassidy Whitmore, served as Board Member of the Northern California Human Resources Association, and authored The HR Handbook, designed to help young tech companies navigate workplace laws.

Janine earned her JD at University of California Hastings School of Law and a BA in English and Political Science at the University of California Berkeley.
