Strategies to Manage Top 10 Wage and Hour Risks in California

w/ Melinda Riechert Partner, Morgan Lewis & Bockius, LLP

Webinar Overview

Many companies have employees in California (even when headquartered elsewhere). California has the most employees in the country AND poses the largest wage and hour risks for employers given its stringent worker protections.

Wage and hour compliance is rapidly changing and exposing employers to potential wage and hour class actions - one of the few HR risks that can cause a business to shut its doors.

In this 60 minute webinar, Melinda Riechert (Partner at Morgan Lewis & Bockius, LLP) and Janine Yancey (President of Emtrain) will help you better understand the top ten wage & hour risks in California and outline key strategies and tools to help you manage them.

During the webinar, we'll cover a number of topics facing employers with California based employees, including:

  • Worker Misclassification (addressing DOL's new salary requirement and independent contractor v. employee status)
  • Accurate recording of all hours worked
  • Ensuring that employees are paid correctly
  • Meal and rest breaks
  • Vacation/PTO pay
  • Sick pay
  • Commission pay rules
  • Paycheck information requirements
  • Wage theft notice
  • Final paychecks

Eligible for 1 hour of MCLE for California lawyers and 1 hour of HRCI for HR professionals.
